Das nächste Ziel unserer Reise lag ebenfalls im Frühmittelalter, wenn auch einige Kilometer weiter südlich: Das Ribe Wikingerzentrum.
Ein wunderschön gemachtes Freilichtmuseum mit jeder Menge Freiwilligen, welche die Wikingerzeit wieder lebendig werden lassen. Wir haben bisher ein Freilichtmuseum mit Fokus auf diese Zeit (Foteviken in Südschweden) besucht und waren etwas enttäuscht, da das Potential des dort aufgebauten Dorfes nicht entsprechend genutzt wurde – davon können wir aber gerne an anderer Stelle nochmal berichten 🙂
Ganz anders in Ribe: Bereits im ersten Langhaus wird, trotz Außentemperaturen über 30 Grad, fleißig Eintopf über einem Kessel gekocht und Brot gebacken. Die Häuser sind authentisch eingerichtet und viele können betreten werden. Die „Bewohner“ spielen Spiele oder interagieren in anderer Weise mit den Besuchern, beispielsweise bringen sie Kindern das Kämpfen wie ein Wikinger bei 🙂
Was uns besonders gut gefiel, war zum einen, dass man einen Ausbau des Dorfes beobachten kann (an einem kleinen See wird ein exemplarischer Hafen gebaut), sowie die ganzen Tiere, die dort gehegt und gepflegt werden. Außerdem konnte man die Freiwilligen beim Bewirtschaften der Felder beobachten. Man bekommt einen sehr guten Eindruck, wie das Leben damals wohl ansatzweise so gewesen ist.
Hier noch die Fakten:
Der Eintritt ins Viking Center beträgt DKK 100 (das sind ca. 14 Euro) für einen Erwachsenen, DKK 50 für Kinder. Geöffnet haben sie in der Hauptsaison (ca. Mitte Juni bis Ende August)von 10 bis 17 Uhr, in der Vor- und Nachsaison bis 15.30 Uhr. Auf dem Gelände gibt es einen Souvenirshop im Eigangsbereich und ein Café/Restaurant entlang des Weges.
